Artist and graphic artist Ulla-Britta Bredenberg is originally from the town of Kittilä, from the lakeside of Immeljärvi in northern Finland. Art school and work as a graphic artist took her south from Lapland, until few years ago she settled back to her northern roots at the village of Sirkka near the Levi ski resort.

She has had several private and joint exhibitions across Finland as well as other Nordic countries. Ulla-Britta Bredenberg has studied at Free Art School, Ateneum School of Graphic Artists and Advertising Artist School. She is a member of the Grafia, the Finnish Graphic Designers Association.

In the serenity of her home workshop visitors can see Ulla-Britta's work: stone reliefs and watercolours. It is amazing what absorbed figures she can find from natural slate. She places the slates on the side of her fireplace, and soon the cold and hard stones start to tell their stories which the artist turns to life as figures. Very often they are animals such as reindeers, foxes and eagles but also humans and angels.
That is how she creates these beautiful and unique stone reliefs.

Ulla-Britta also paints watercolours and makes graphics and works as teacher of art at the open college at Kittilä. You can see some of her art by clicking the links (Kivireliefit - stone reliefs and Akvarellit - watercolours) above. Visitors are welcome to her home gallery in the village of Sirkka!
